Epson adds two new robot models—GX4 and GX8, expanding its SCARA robot series. The new highly compact and multifunctional robots deliver standard setting performance designed to maximize productivity, speed, and precision within limited spaces, making them ideal for a wide range of industry applications from automotive component assembly to batching and feeding.

The Epson SCARA GX4 has a maximum payload of 4 kilograms, and despite its small footprint (140cm x 185.5cm), it offers a large working range with cycle times as low as 0.33 seconds, even during extended use. Many assembly tasks can only be performed in one arm direction, which is why the SCARA GX4 series features an arm that bends left or right, increasing the maximum square working area by up to 40%. The unique high rigidity design of the robotic arm also means extremely low residual vibration, enabling smooth starts and stops even at high speeds, with lengths of 250mm, 300mm, and 350mm. The size, speed, and precision of the SCARA GX4 series make it highly suitable for various industries, from mobile phones and computers, to manufacturing medical devices and packaging medications.
The Epson SCARA GX8 robot has a similar design and performance profile to the GX4 series, with a maximum payload of 8 kilograms, a footprint of 185 centimeters x 220 centimeters, and cycle times as low as 0.28 seconds. Like the SCARA GX4, the SCARA GX8 also features a unique high rigidity arm design that provides very low residual vibration, enabling smooth motion starts and stops at all speeds. The GX8 is capable of replacing larger robots, improving productivity for any industry requiring high speed and high precision, such as production of mechanical and electrical parts, pick-and-place applications, and metering and feeding.
Both new SCARA models are available as complete Epson solutions, including robots, controllers, and software, and can be provided as desktop units. The GX8 is also available as wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted units, while the GX4 can be provided as multi-mount units suitable for ceiling and wall mounting. Cleanroom options and configurations are also available for special installation environments such as IP65 and ESD. These latest robots complete Epson's SCARA series, offering users more choice.
