What should be considered when installing a robot? What safety hazards are associated with robot installation and connections?
Robot Installation and Connection Safety:
The robot is designed in compliance with safety requirements for industrial robots as specified in GB 11291.1-2011 / ISO 10218-1:2006:
1. When transporting the robot, do not exceed the specified maximum lifting height.
2. If hoisting the robot, use steel cables attached to the designated lifting eyes. Before lifting, ensure the lifting eyes are securely fastened and not loose.
3. When lifting the control cabinet with steel cables, remove the teach pendant and its mounting bracket to prevent cables from snagging on other equipment.
4. Before moving the robot, remove all unnecessary items and clear the path to the installation site.
5. If using a forklift for transport, the control cabinet may tilt. To prevent this, securely strap the cabinet to the forklift using appropriate restraints.
6. Since the robot contains precision components, protect it from impacts, shocks, or collisions during handling.
7. Never connect the power cable to the control cabinet while the main facility power is ON. Doing so is extremely hazardous and may cause electric shock. Always ensure the main power supply is completely disconnected before connecting input power cables. Additionally, place clear “Power Off – Inspection/Maintenance in Progress” warning tags on all power sources and circuit breakers, and apply lockout/tagout (LOTO) devices to prevent accidental re-energization.
8. After completing wiring, always reinstall the cover over the input power terminal block. Failure to do so creates an extreme hazard—accidental contact with live terminals could result in severe electric shock.
9. Route all robot power and signal cables through cable trays or conduits to protect them from damage. Additionally, take measures to prevent cables from being pinched, crushed, or subjected to excessive tension.
