How to Fix a Case Sealer That Won’t Cut the Tape – Troubleshooting Guide for Automatic Case Sealers with Tape-Cutting Issues

Troubleshooting Guide: Case Sealer Tape Won’t Cut
1. Distance Between Carton and Tape Head Frame
The gap between the carton and the tape head assembly should be minimal—ideally just 1–2 mm. Excessive clearance can prevent the cutter from engaging properly.
2. Front Swing Arm Vibration or Movement
Assuming the carton-to-tape-head distance is correctly set:
Loosen the screw on the stop rod mounting block, then gently press it against the front swing arm of the tape head to eliminate play. Once positioned, tighten the lock nut securely.
This prevents vertical movement of the swing arm during operation, ensuring consistent tape cutting.
3. Blade Condition and Positioning
Even if the blade appears sharp, it may not extend far enough to cut cleanly. Loosen the two screws on the blade holder and slightly extend the blade outward for better contact.
For upper tape head cutting issues, address the points above.
For lower tape head cutting problems, focus primarily on inspecting and adjusting the stop rod mounting block.
