SpeedPack Automatic Case Erector Setup & Calibration Guide (Applicable to SpeedPack Automatic Case Erectors)
Part 1: Mechanical Adjustments – Pre-Setup Preparation
Loosen the pressure plate and slide it forward. Remove the internal erector module to facilitate access during setup. Take a sample blank carton and manually form it once for reference.
- Adjust conveyor belt width: Turn the belt-width adjustment handwheel until the discharge width matches the carton width.
- Set pressure plate height: Rotate the height-adjustment crank to position the pressure plate approximately 2–3 mm above the carton height. Then return the plate to its operating position and lock it securely.
- Adjust magazine (stacker) width: Turn the magazine-width crank so that the slot width closely matches the unfolded (flat) carton width—just enough to allow smooth, gravity-fed feeding without jamming.
- Set magazine height: Using the bottom edge of the backstop as a reference, turn the magazine-height adjustment crank to set the correct vertical position.
- Align pre-fold guide blocks: Loosen the locking handle, adjust the conical alignment blocks so they line up precisely with the carton’s score lines, then re-tighten the lock.
- Level suction head: Turn the suction-head adjustment knob until the suction cup plane is perfectly parallel to the conveyor belt surface.
- Align pusher rod: Rotate the pusher-rod adjustment knob so the main push bar aligns exactly with the carton’s fold line.
- Load test carton: Place an unfolded carton into the magazine and lower the feed assist plate. Mechanical preparation is now complete.
Part 2: Manual Test Run – Step-by-Step Erection Sequence
Switch the machine to Manual Mode and perform the following steps:
- “Pick Box Forward”: Move the suction head close to the large panel of the carton—but ensure it does not extend beyond the fold line.
- “Activate Suction”: Manually push the carton slightly forward to confirm the suction cups securely grip it.
- “Pick Box Forward” (again): Observe the pusher rod position. It must be parallel to the carton face. If not, readjust using the pusher-rod crank.
- “Fold Front/Back Flaps”: Trigger the mechanism to fold the leading and trailing flaps.
- “Fold Side Flaps”: Watch both side flaps carefully—the folding blades should be centered exactly between them. If misaligned, fine-tune the suction head position using the pick-box adjustment knob.
- “Push Box Forward”: Advance the fully formed carton out of the machine. If it exits smoothly, the setup is successful.
- Reset: Press the emergency stop button to clear the cycle and reset the system.
- Reinstall erector module: Loosen the pressure plate again, carefully slide the internal erector module back into place using the shaft ends, then re-lock the pressure plate.
TIP: After successful calibration, mark all scale indicators with a permanent marker or label for quick future changeovers.
Finally, switch to Auto Mode and press Start—the case erector will now automatically form cartons.
